Local law enforcement apprehended Sequim resident Drew Balch this morning, March 5, after a chase throughout the Sequim area.

Ron Cameron, chief criminal deputy with the Clallam County Sheriff Department, said the department received a call at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning about a suspicious vehicle near Woodcock Road.

When a deputy arrived, Balch allegedly fled after the deputy tried to stop him.

During the chase Balch hit an advertisement sign on the road traveling on Holland Road just east of Sunland, Cameron said.

Sequim police officers attempted to stop Balch with road spikes near Washington Harbor Road but he avoided them, Cameron said. Balch then proceeded east towards Jefferson County before Washington State Patrol deployed road spikes, flattening all four of his truck’s tires.

Balch fled into the brush near Old Gardiner Road before a sheriff deputy apprehended him, Cameron said.

Cameron said Balch was a subject of a warrant sweep a few weeks ago on Heath Road and a fugitive with an outstanding warrant.
