Ten students from Sequim High School recently were recognized as top students in a Microsoft Academy course SHS teachers Christi Ditlefsen, Charles Kleinberg and Mark Sabo piloted during the 2013-2014 school year.
With more than 370 Microsoft Academy certifications, Sequim placed 10th among schools in the state.
Grant Pierson earned a “Microsoft Master Certification” status while nine classmates — Thomas Arnesen, Megan Begley, Marshall Conway, Joshua Gaylord, Jensen Heike, Lillian Oden, Reynaldo Perez, Emily Straling and Mercedes Woods — earned “Microsoft Expert Certification” status.
Sabo said next fall’s curriculum will include units on Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and possibly OneNote. Students choosing to take the second semester course will have the opportunity to learn Excel, Expert Word, Expert Excel and Access — and be given opportunities to earn Microsoft’s Master Certification.
