An 18-year-old Sequim man pleaded not guilty to five counts of child rape and one count of cyberstalking Friday.

Dylan Valin is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl and sending threatening text messages to another.

According to a probable cause statement by Sequim police, a 13-year-old student at Sequim Middle School reported Valin was harrassing her via text messages Feb. 7. The girl told police she dated Valin for a month but had recently broken up with him over his verbally abusive behavior, police said.

She blocked him from calling her but could not block the text messages, which were recovered from her phone by police. Police said examination of the text messages resulted in a 34-page document with multiple messages threaten ing to have another girl beat her up if she did not answer his phone calls.

The next day police spoke to a woman who said Valin stayed at her house for two weeks and was dating her daughter during that time, police said in a separate statement.

The woman said she’d seen Valin and her 13-year-old daughter hug and kiss but didn’t believe any sexual contact had happened because she insisted her daughter sleep in the same room as she did.

Additionally, she believed the 6-foot-two, 190-pound tattooed man was not yet 16 years old.

Valin was arrested later that afternoon on investigation of cyberstalking and admitted during a police interview he’d had sexual contact with his 13-year-old girlfriend, police said.

He was charged in Clallam County Superior Court with five counts of second-degree rape of a child and one count of cyberstalking Feb. 11. He remains in custody at the Clallam County jail in lieu of $70,000 bond.
