Paul Taylor of Sequim was sentenced to 10 months in the Clallam County Jail on July 26 for a felony assault second degree on a patron of the 7 Cedars Casino.
According to documents filed in court, Taylor, 40, was observed by witnesses at the casino last September in an unprovoked assault on another patron playing slots.
Surveillance footage confirmed that Taylor appeared to speak to the victim, and when the victim walked away, Taylor followed the him, tackling him out of his chair and struck him several times in the face with his fist, according to the Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office.
The victim suffered severe hearing loss and may need surgery, court records state.
Taylor has prior convictions from California for possession of a controlled substance and burglary, said Deputy Prosecutor Steve Johnson. His presumptive sentencing range up to 12 months.
