Sequim High School graduate Robbie Walden is one step closer to his dream.
The singer/songwriter entered an online music contest on Web site Famecast.com earlier this year. The competition is an "American Idol" type contest where contestants post videos in one or more categories and site visitors vote for who they think is the best. Walden has reached the top 10 in both categories he entered, singer/songwriter and country singer. The next vote will whittle the group to five and then a winner will be announced.
Walden said past winners have received not only the $10,000 prize money but also record deals, which are his dream. He said, win or lose, his favorite part of the experience has been the complimentary letters he’s received from all over the globe.
"That’s my favorite thing about music, to write something that can touch someone else’s emotions," Walden said when he entered the contest in January. "I want it to be relatable … even if people don’t normally like country. Everyone’s fallen in love and everyone’s had a broken heart and everyone’s lost someone they love."
