Sequim Soroptimists reopen medical loan closet

After a brief shutdown because of health concerns surrounding the 2019 novel coronavirus, the Soroptimist International of Sequim’s Medical Loan Closet, has reopened, the group announced last week.

The closet is open by appointment only on Tuesdays and Fridays. Items available include walkers, wheelchairs, transport chairs, toilet risers, commodes, bath seats, bath transfer seats, bed rails, knee scooters, canes, crutches and more.

Soroptimist International of Sequim loans medical equipment free of charge to residents who reside within the Sequim School District.

“We know that when the need for medical equipment arises, getting the equipment may be a challenge,” Public Awareness Chair Linda Klinefelter said. “We work to make it a little bit easier to obtain needed items.”

For information and to arrange for a loan or return of equipment, call the automated telephone number at 360-504-0231. Leave a message with a name, telephone number and item needed or item to be returned. A volunteer will respond and set up an appointment.

Monetary donations are used to purchase new equipment and pay rent on the storage units where the equipment is stored at The Sequim Stow Place, 600 N. Sequim Ave. Note: All donations are tax-deductible.

Please contact us if you need this kind of equipment on a short-term basis and live within the boundaries of the Sequim School District.
