Sequim resident Lisa Roberts won the Working Girl Chocolate Chip Cookies Contest on June 17, hosted by Olympic Cellars Winery.
Roberts’ favorite wine pairing was the winery’s 2005 Cabernet Franc.
Olympic Cellars owner Kathy Charlton said the contest attracted 15 recipes from as far away as Georgia and Texas.
She, Molly Rivard and Lisa Martin baked five recipes each, then picked their favorite five through a blind tasting.
"I can tell you this was really tough duty," Charlton said.
"We tasted, retasted and then tasted again ’til we all agreed.
"Given our extensive deliberations, we decided that the public should be involved in picking the final winner and the best wine pairing," she said.
A Public Choice Awards competition was held June 17 at The Showcase, 833 E. Front St. in Port Angeles.
"They have a marvelous demonstration kitchen where they host the ‘Fine Art of Cooking’ with guest chefs each month.
"Molly and I were mildly amusing doing our own cooking demonstration in our old ‘Lucille Ball Chocolate Factory’ uniforms," Charlton said.
The contest sought to find the best chocolate chip cookie recipe, why it should become the official cookie of the Olympic Cellars Winery and which of the Working Girls wines would pair best with the cookies.
The winning recipe is posted on the winery’s Web site, olympiccellars.blogspot.com.
