New tractor pulling event

At the Sequim Irrigation Festival from May 8-10, United Survivors Club and Pat O’Brien sponsor a new family friendly attraction — garden tractor pulling — at the Blake family lot.

Pull runs begin at noon Friday and are all day Saturday and Sunday morning. All pulling tractors must weigh in at 10 a.m. Friday. About 80 entrants are registered, O’Brien said.

Stock or modified stock entries pull with either the deck belt or deck removed and have wheelie bars. There will be a special class for riding lawn mowers. For that class, the only requirements are wheelie bars and that belts be disconnected from the decks. Cost is $5. The event is pulling, not racing, and the maximum speed for all entrants is 4.5 miles per hour. Children 7-12 must wear a helmet.

To register, call O’Brien at 681-3957.
