Sheriff’s office investigating fatal crash near Black Diamond

Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on Jan. 23.

A motorcycle ridden by Chaz R. Sands, 25, identified by the sheriff’s office as a Port Angeles man, left the roadway near the 2200 of block of Black Diamond Road, killing the man. Motorists discovered the wreck at 6:49 p.m. on Thursday night; the motorists noticed a motorcycle lying in the ditch with Sands lying next to it.

Sands was non-responsive at the scene and CPR attempts were unsuccessful. He was apparently on his way home from work when the crash occurred.

Deputies Shaun Minks and Laticia Wells responded along with medic personnel.
