The Clallam County Sheriff’s Department is seeking a man in connection with a burglary in the Dungeness area north of City of Sequim limits.
On Jan. 22, deputies of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary complaint on Gold Dust Lane; the burglary had occurred while the homeowners were out of the area on vacation. Taken from the property included jewelry, several DVDs, silverware and a vehicle.
The total loss was estimated to be more than $10,000, sheriff’s department officials said last week.
Deputies recovered the vehicle a short time later at the parking lot on the end of East Runnion Road as it was observed parked unoccupied a few days prior.
Victims identified a person of interest in the burglary as Sequim resident Jacob H. Gloor, 20. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that Gloor sold several of the stolen items to local pawn shops and precious metal dealers.
More of the stolen property was recovered during the service of a search warrant at Gloor’s residence, though Gloor was not home at the time.
Deputies sent out notice to local law enforcement officers agencies that they have probable cause for Gloor’s arrest.
After learning of his pending arrest, Gloor surrendered himself to the Sequim Police Department. Gloor was booked into the Clallam County Jail for residential burglary, theft, and trafficking in stolen property.
Gloor was also arrested for two vehicle prowls at the Deer Park Cinema that occurred on Dec. 22, 2013.
As a result of the above investigation, the Sheriff’s Office has obtained probable cause to arrest Ryan M. VanWinkle for the burglary and the two vehicle prowls. VanWinkle is described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 145 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
Both Gloor and VanWinkle are suspected in a rash of other residential burglaries and attempts in the Sequim and Port Angeles areas. Those cases are still under investigation.
