Fire crews reported to a two-story house fire Monday, Dec. 22, off Shore Road that displaced a family of seven.
No injuries were reported in the fire that was reported to 9-1-1 at 5:09 p.m. Dec. 22 at 112 J Shea Way.
Firefighters first reported to the scene at 5:18 p.m.
Fire Chief Steve Vogel for Clallam County Fire District 3 said the cause of the fire appears to be from an electrical source or sources, but that the fire remains under investigation.
The fire did start in the garage, he said, and extended to an addition above it.
“(Firefighters) were able to pull down sheetrock in other rooms to make sure it didn’t spread,” Vogel said. “There’s heavy smoke and fire damage and it’s not livable right now.”
The garage is totaled and fire district officials have not determined if the house is uninhabitable, Vogel said, but noted the family did have fire insurance.
Officials with the American Red Cross Olympic Peninsula Chapter said the family was able to save their Christmas presents from any damage.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 9:13 p.m., Vogel said.
Clallam County Fire District 2 was contacted for mutual aid but it was called off.
