Students at Sequim High are raising the bar by raising their voices.
Six SHS students are headed to Bellevue in February after recently being named to select regional choirs.
Senior Stephanie Dunbar (alto), junior Sarah Stoffer (soprano) and senior Gianna Vennetti (alto) were named to the All-Northwest Treble Choir, while senior Dalton Ackley (bass), senior Rachel Chumley (soprano) and junior Yu Chen (soprano) were named to the All-State Choir.
The Sequim group joins other music students from six states — Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming — to rehearse under the direction of world-renowned conductors from Feb. 17-19.
They present final concerts in Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, along with the All-Northwest Band, Orchestra, Mixed Choir, Jazz Band and Jazz Choir.
Nearly 1,000 students participate in the event sponsored by the National Association for Music Education and Washington Music Educators Association.
