For the 10th time in Sequim, Handel With Care will offer an opportunity to the community to sing or listen to Handel’s "The Messiah." Admission is free; however, donations will be accepted for Sequim Community Aid.
The performance starts at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., near Carrie Blake Park. Musical director is Dewey Ehling and accompanist is Pat Marcy. There will be instrumentalists with
four soloists.
For the third year, a
Sequim couple will match the funds raised at Handel With Care. While they wish to remain anonymous, they would like to see the event continue as both an event and a way to raise funds for Sequim Community Aid.
Last year, SCA received about $2,500 from Handel With Care.
SCA volunteers respond to requests from people who live within the borders of the Sequim School District. Help usually is in the form of money for utilities and rent, but connections to other types of aid are common. Funds are donated from within the community.
The name Handel With Care originated at San Francisco University High School, which hosts this sing-along every Christmas as a fundraiser for youth programs.
There will be an intermission with punch and cookies provided by Dungeness Schoolhouse Christmas Tea.
Shirts, tote bags and coffee mugs with a logo will be for sale with proceeds going to SCA.
