Four ecumenical services held around Sequim

Sequim Christians prepared for the coming of Easter with Holy Week services March 29-April 1.

Holy Week commemorates the last days Jesus spent in Jerusalem prior to his crucifixion.

Church leaders prepared 30-minute services with short messages and music during the lunch hour.

The ecumenical services that involve many area churches have run more than 40 years, alternating hosts and leaders.

Speakers and host churches this year were Dave Wiitala, pastor for Sequim Bible Church speaking at Sequim Worship Center; David Westman, pastor for Sequim Worship Center at Sequim Bible Church; the Rev. Jack Anderson at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church at Sequim Community Church; and Rich Hay, pastor at Olympic Bible Fellowship at King’s Way Foursquare.

A light lunch was served each day with an offering benefiting Sequim High School’s baccalaureate.

In the past, services were held on Friday, but many churches hold their own Good Friday services, so the event was shortened to four days.
