A new community effort looks to promote Clallam County’s Christian events on the web.

The Clallam Christian E-Bulletin, www.clallamchristians.blogspot.com, started last fall as a free service for local churches, ministries and individuals to share special events centered on faith in Jesus Christ.

Melissa Murray, author of the E-Bulletin, said the idea for the service came to her from two realizations. The first, she said, was after learning of some local church events from organizers and not particular resources. She also said there are a lot of resources out there for general information but nothing specifically for Christians in Clallam County.

“Knowing a bit about marketing, I wanted something that came to their inbox rather than asking them to look for information,” she said.

Upon visiting the site, you can sign up for the E-Bulletin, read current and past bulletins and visit the calendar of events such as Experiencing the Passion on March 25-26 at Sequim Bible Church.

Murray said she initially relied on word-of-mouth for the E-Bulletin but continues to seek contact with North Olympic Peninsula churches. She said some pastors have mentioned it to colleagues and the site now has business cards.

The best way to help the service, she said, is to share the website, bulletins and events listed.

There are more plans for the service, too, Murray said.

In the near term, organizers would like to add ongoing events, like prayer meetings, Bible studies and Christian-based support groups open to anyone, to the website while continuing to highlight specials events by e-mail. Other possibilities could be churches and ministries posting their volunteer and/or employment needs and listing churches for new residents.

Going forward, Murray said she’d like to expand the website with help from a fellow volunteer since the site works with no budget. “I want this (E-Bulletin) to give glory to God and be a blessing for this community, so I am trying to avoid charging anything or having advertisements,” she said.

An advisory board, made up mostly of Sequim leaders from local churches, ministries and more, helps determine if submitted events are in compliance with the E-Bulletin’s Guiding Principles and Statement of Faith. All posted events must follow these and if something is questionable, then the advisory board makes the decision on it.
