Anglers host Platypus Marine GM

Bruce Bryant is the guest speaker at the next North Olympic Peninsula Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers meeting, set for Thursday, Oct 20. Bryant is the general manager of Platypus Marine in Port Angeles, a club member and one who loves to fish for tuna off the Washington west coast.

He will talk about how it’s done and show a video of the action he filmed on his boat.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. for viewing the raffle prizes and fish stories. A short club business meeting begins at 7 p.m. and the guest speaker follows.

The club meets at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim.

The meeting includes refreshments, a raffle for fishing gear and $50 membership drawing (must be present to win).

SkyRidge scramble set

SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway, Sequim, hosts its 2016 Fall Scramble, a two-person 18-hole scramble, with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start Saturday, Oct. 22.

Cost is $60 per team and is open to the first 36 teams. Entry fees include green fees, range balls, KPs, chili/biscuits after play and more. Optional honey pots are $30 per team and carts are $13 per seat. For more information or to register, call 683-3673.

Dungeness opens to coho fishing

The Dungeness River opened to sport fishing for hatchery coho on Oct. 16. The river will be open from the mouth to the hatchery intake pipe at river mile 11.3 through Nov. 27.

The daily limit is four hatchery coho only (marked with an adipose fin clip) with a minimum size of 12 inches. All wild (unclipped) coho and all other salmon must be released.

Men’s basketball starts in PA

The Port Angeles Parks and Recreation men’s basketball league, open to men 18 years and older, starts Nov. 6. Deadline for team registrations is Oct. 23.

Cost is $40 per team plus a player fee ($28 for City of Port Angeles residents, $42 for non-residents). Players without a team may sign up to be put on a “free agent” list. Games are at Roosevelt Middle School, 106 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
