The Washington State Liquor Control Board plans to post the ordered list of qualified marijuana applicants on Friday, May 2.

Two agencies, the Social and Economic Sciences Research Center of Washington State University and the accounting firm for Washington’s Lottery, Kraght-Snell of Seattle, are conducting a lottery of qualified applicants this week.

Brian E. Smith, communications director for the liquor control board, said they expect to begin issuing retail licenses by or before the first week of July.

Statewide, Washington will have up to 334 marijuana retailers with the City of Sequim hosting one, Port Angeles two and three more in Clallam County.

Hopeful Sequim retailers have applied for 10 applications with five retailers with six locations in city limits and two retailers with two locations in Sequim’s greater area. Four of the applications are outside of the city. Port Angeles has 22 retailer applications and Forks one.

Smith said being identified as the successful applicant is not a guarantee that the business will receive a license because they must pass multiple requirements first.
