As part of Sequim’s first Stormwater Master Plan, the city’s Interpretive Center at the Water Reuse Demonstration Site will be open twice weekly. City of Sequim’s water resource specialist, Ann Soule, will be available to educate and talk with anyone interested in a number of topics including, stormwater planning processes, Bell Creek natural history and human’s interaction with the creek overtime, low impact development techniques and/or engage with those interested in learning the abundance of volunteer opportunities.

“Now that it is (Interpretive Center) all set up it’s like a classroom,” Soule said. “Teachers can use this or it can be a meeting space.”

Solidifying the Stormwater Master Plan effort, city councilors unanimously approved a grant agreement with the Department of Ecology at city council meeting Monday, Oct. 27. The nearly $250,000 DOE grant will cover 75 percent of the Stormwater Master Plan costs and will be supplemented by the city’s match of $83,000.

“Having the grant approved is a big relief and it’s great to have that administrative piece behind us,” Soule said.
