Substance abuse talk set

Community members, including parents/guardians, family members and their students, are invited to hear Steven Freng’s talk “Drugs, Alcohol and Your Student: What Parents Can Do to Keep Their Youth Safe and Substance-Free” from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in the Stevens Middle School gymnasium, 1139 W. 14th St., Port Angeles.

Freng is a clinical psychologist working as the prevention/treatment manager for the Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. He offers information regarding the characteristics of commonly abused drugs and their impacts on youth, the activities of drug trafficking organizations that affect youth, the recent passage of Initiative 502 legalizing marijuana and the best ways to prevent youth from abusing substances.

The free presentation is co-sponsored by Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition, Clallam County Health and Human Services/Drug Free Communities Grant and the Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area in cooperation with the Port Angeles School District and Stevens Middle School.
