Sequim Bible Church’s youth took full advantage of the sun last week to zoom down two monstrous homemade water slides on Bell Hill.
One of the slides measured 300 feet. Shane McCrossen, student life pastor, joked that if he didn’t live up to his promise of constructing a slide that long, some of the students would be mad. Volunteers like Debbie Baker sprayed water down the slides and students put liquid soap on their swimming suits to go faster down the hill.
“I think it’s great and a perfect day for it especially with the great view,” Baker said.
Water streamed down long strips of black plastic toward a large pool at the bottom of the hill with trash bags filled with water for safety. Volunteers spent about a week constructing the slides using donated supplies and space from church members and local businesses. McCrossen said students had a blast and he hopes to make it an annual event.
