Sequim schools superintendent Kelly Shea was all smiles after sinking a hole-in-one at the 24th-annual Sequim Boys & Girls Club Golf Tournament on May 8.

Shea recorded the ace on hole No. 8 and earned a two-year lease on a new Ford Mustang from Price Ford Lincoln.

The event, sponsored by 7 Cedars Casino and played at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course, raises funds for activities at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula that serve about 1,000 youths and young adults at facilities in Sequim and Port Angeles.

According to Sara Maloney, Boys & Girls Clubs resource developer, it’s the first time in the tourney’s 24 years that someone scored a hole-in-one to win a vehicle.

“There are a handful of these we like to sponsor (and the Boys & Girls Club is something we like to support,” Mark Ostroot, general sales manager at Price Ford Lincoln, said.

“There are so many people that put that tournament together and it’s nice to see someone who’s an active member of the community (win the prize). It’s phenomenal.”

Price Ford Lincoln also has a hole-in-one prize at the Golf for Grads tournament, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Sunland Golf & Country Club.
