A 32-year-old Port Angeles man was arrested off Palo Alto Road southeast of Sequim on Monday night.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Pieper said a deputy was patrolling the area, since neighbors have experienced burglaries and prowlers lately.

Deputy Jeff Pickrell saw a muddy 1989 Chevrolet pickup pull out of a nearby driveway and as he approached to get the license plate number it sped away, Pieper said in a news release.

The truck drove onto a forest road for a mile until it was blocked, at which point the occupants abandoned the truck and fled into the woods, deputies said. A 20-gauge shotgun was found in the truck.

Deputy Ken Oien, Sequim Police K9 Officer Mike Hill, Sequim Police Officer Cory Hall along with Border Patrol agents responded to the scene, Pieper said.

Hill conducted a track with Sequim Police K9 Chase about a mile through thick brush and extreme terrain, eventually locating Trevor Gallauher, who immediately surrendered and was not injured.

Gallauher, a convicted felon, was determined to be a fugitive with three outstanding felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant for his arrest, Pieper said. He was arrested on the warrants as well as suspicion of resisting arrest and felon in possession of a firearm.

Pieper said two other suspects were not located but it appeared they might have been involved in nighttime poaching activities. It isn’t clear if the suspects are connected to the recent burglaries and prowling or not, he said.

The investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
