The new restaurant is slated for a two-lot parcel of almost one acre on the southwest corner of the Lee Chatfield Way and East Washington Street intersection.

The county lists the address as 999 E. Washington St., but that will change once the property is subdivided, said associate planner Joe Irvin.

The project developer is Peter Braun, president of Orchard Foods Corporation in Silverdale, which owns KFC, Taco Bell and KFC/Taco Bell restaurants in Bremerton, Port Angeles, Port Orchard, Poulsbo and Silverdale.

Capital projects manager Frank Needham said company representatives told public works staff that their financing is in place and they are ready to apply for a building permit.

Planning director Dennis Lefevre said city staff is getting ready to bring the project to the Design Review Board.

Probably not this month, but the notice of application will go out "soon" to board members, he said.
