The Clallam County Family YMCA has announced the chefs, wineries and breweries that will be participating in the fourth annual "A Taste of the Peninsula" from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Naval Elks Lodge, 131 E. First St., Port Angeles.
The event features the bounty of North Olympic Peninsula farms and food producers, local wineries and breweries, and the area’s fine culinary talent. Wineries pour their wines for tasting and chefs provide samplings of food prepared with many locally harvested ingredients.
The event is a benefit for the YMCA’s life-enriching programs and showcases the impact the YMCA has on the community.
Live jazz is provided by the Taste of Jazz Sextet, featuring local musicians Ed Donohue, Chuck Easton, Andy Geiger, Al Harris, Ted Enderle and Tom Svornich.
New this year is the inclusion of several local breweries. Port Townsend Brewing Company and Harbinger Winery will pour tastes of their beer and educate guests on what’s "brewing" on the Olympic Peninsula.
Participating wineries are Black Diamond Winery, Camaraderie Cellars, Harbinger Winery, Olympic Cellars, Sorensen Cellars, FairWinds Winery and Finnriver Farm & Cidery.
Food participants include Alder Wood Bistro, Bell Street Bakery, The Blackbird Coffeehouse, Double Eagle Steak & Seafood, Michael’s Seafood & Steakhouse, Mt. Townsend Creamery, Oven Spoonful, Pane d’Amore, Raindrop Desserts, Rainshadow Coffee, Sabai Thai and Yvonne’s Chocolates.
Last year’s event sold out. Tickets are $45 each and can be purchased at the YMCA, 302 S. Francis St., or at The Blackbird Coffeehouse,, 336 E. Eighth St., both in Port Angeles, or by calling 452-9244.
