A Port Orchard girl who went missing near the Sequim Costco last week arrived safely at her grandmother’s house in Port Angeles on Sunday, April 12, her mother said.
Bristol Pemberton, 14, was reported as missing after she ran from her father’s residence at the Vintage at Sequim apartments April 7, Sequim police said.
The teen had been reported as missing for five days.
“She is no longer listed as a runaway, but the case is still open,” said Josh Rees of the Sequim Police Department.
Pemberton’s mother, Jessica Wanner of Port Orchard, would not comment on where her daughter had been, citing the ongoing police investigation.
“She’s safe,” Wanner said Monday.
Wanner had distributed missing person fliers and posted messages about her daughter’s disappearance on social media.
Wanner said Pemberton ran from her father’s apartment before she arrived to pick her up at about 3:30 p.m. April 7.
Pemberton was reported as missing April 7 and was entered into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center database, Sequim Police Sgt. John Southard said Thursday.
“I wish I could give you all the details but not until it all comes out in the wash,” Wanner said in a Sunday Facebook post.
“I just want to thank every person who prayed, looked, checked in, helped the investigation and cared to support us through this.”
In a Monday interview, Wanner credited law enforcement in Port Angeles and Sequim and others who looked for her daughter.
She described her daughter’s return as “the biggest gift.”
“The officers and the community and the people, everybody spread the word,” Wanner said.
“It was so helpful. I couldn’t have done it without the community. I just want to say thank you.”
