Thousands of bargain items up for sale

The Sequim Senior Activity Center will hold its seventh annual Benefit Sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Aug. 3-4.

The Sequim Senior Activity Center will hold its seventh annual Benefit Sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Aug. 3-4.

The sale — the biggest fundraiser of the year for the senior center — brings together thousands of donated items for purchase at very low prices.

Eager to check it out? There are two opportunities to get your hands on the goods ahead of the Friday crowds.

Today, Wednesday, Aug. 1, the furniture is available for purchase from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Ray Bentsen, head wrangler of the event, said the early sale of furniture is necessary because of the “overwhelming amount of donations” they’ve received.

The temporary store, located at 990 E. Washington St. in the QFC shopping center, is stuffed with lamps, desks, recliners and more.

In addition to furniture, the sale features mountains of good quality clothing, household and kitchen goods, plants, tools, toys, DVDs, collectibles and household and kitchen goods.

Proceeds benefit Sequim Senior Activity Center’s nonprofit operations, with 10 percent going to the center’s Scholarship Fund for Sequim High School seniors.

A members-only pre-sale of the entire inventory will be from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2. An annual membership at the door is $40.
