Instructor Alex Hirsekorn is a Port Angeles native who grew up on City Pier and Hollywood Beach.
Classes last two hours each and are configured to combine lectures, anecdotes and conversation among participants. The goal of the class is a better understanding of the area’s marine environment.
Classes run eight weeks from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays from April 5-May 24 at the Feiro Marine Center, 315 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles. A Salt Creek field study will take place during the morning’s negative low tide on May 7.
The course fee is $45 and includes the book “From Whelks to Whales: Coastal Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest.”
