A Washington State Patrol officer was uninjured in a July 15 incident on U.S. Highway 101 that saw his patrol car leave the roadway and strike a sign.

According to a state patrol report, patrolman Christopher Daigle, 31, was driving a fully-marked patrol car — a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria — with lights and siren on eastbound on Highway 101 approaching the Sequim Avenue exit at about 5:30 p.m. A second vehicle moved to the shoulder, then reentered the roadway.

According to the report, Daigle made “evasive maneuvers” and crossed the center line, leaving the roadway sideways into the center median between the highway and Sequim Avenue.

The vehicle struck a Washington state Department of Transportation sign before coming to rest in the median.

Cause of the incident was still under investigation as of last week.
