During the evening hours of Wednesday, Feb. 7, people who use US 101 between Blyn and Gardiner may want to plan additional travel time, Washington State Department of Transportation officials warned.
Weather permitting, construction crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will temporarily relocate the highway onto a two-lane bypass road.
The change is set for 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, through to 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, with one-way alternating traffic approaching the work zone.
State officials note there may be unscheduled traffic stops for up to 10 minutes.
The work is weather-dependent and could be rescheduled.
The existing 55 mph and 45 mph speed limits will be lowered to 35 mph between milepost 271.68 and 272.59.
A temporary speed limit reduction will occur after traffic is shifted onto the two-lane bypass road.
The bypass road will keep people moving around the work zone through summer 2024, state officials said.
The work is part of a fish barrier removal project at Chicken Coop Creek. A nearby section of U.S. Highway 101 is also temporarily shifted onto a two-lane bypass road at Discovery Creek.
