Van hits downtown business’ storefront

Sequim Police report a van crashed into the Cedarbrook Lavender storefront at 120 W. Washington St. on Thursday, Oct. 3, in downtown Sequim.

Police chief Mike Hill said an unidentified 35-year-old man attempted to park his full-sized van at about 7:45 p.m. on the south side of the 100 block of Washington Street. However, the van was placed in reverse and began to roll, Hill said.

The man attempted to hit the brakes, but instead he hit the gas pedal propelling the truck to the right of the store’s entrance, Hill said.

There were no injuries, police report, and the van was able to be driven away.

A damage estimate to the business front was not available, Hill said, and criminal charges were not filed.

No damage was reported at Pacific Mist Books, who share an entrance with Cedarbrook.

On Instagram, Cedarbrook Lavender’s owners posted that their family and friends helped them work late into the night and early morning to be open for business as usual on Oct. 4.

“We want to ask for your patience and grace as we are working through the process of restoration to the building and windows, but we are SO thankful that we can still welcome you in the store anytime!” store owners wrote.

“We are incredibly grateful and very blessed that this happened when no one was in the building and no one was injured!!!”
