Sequim schools host Veterans Day assemblies
The Sequim School District hosts a number of assemblies to honor U.S. veterans on Friday, Nov. 7.
At 8:20 a.m., the Sequim Middle School staff hosts an assembly in the school’s gym, 301 W. Hendrickson Road.
At 9 a.m., Greywolf Elementary School hosts an assembly in the school’s gym at 171 Carlsborg Road.
At 1 p.m., Helen Haller Elementary School hosts a Veterans Day assembly in the school gym at 350 W. Fir St.
On Nov. 10, Sequim High School hosts an assembly at 10:45 at the school gym, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
The public is invited to attend any of these events. Visitors should sign in at the front office of the school building before proceeding to the assembly.
Sequim schools are closed for Veterans Day observance on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Flags needed for Vets Day
The Clallam County Veterans Association is sponsoring the 2014 Veterans Day ceremony at Coast Guard Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. All veteran organizational flags to be displayed at the event need to be delivered to the Coas
t Guard Base gate (Ediz Hook).
The Coast Guard will accept organizational flags at the gate of the base from 8 a.m.-noon Thursday, Nov. 6. All flags will be collected at the gate and transported by USCG staff to the ceremony hangar on the base.
All flags will need to be picked up immediately following the ceremony.

Grange hosts event
Fairview Grange is having a Veterans and Current Military Members Appreciation Event at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. It will be a potluck but veterans are not required to bring food. A short program will follow the dinner.
All service members and their families are welcome in recognition of their service. Fairview Grange is at 161 Lake Farm Road in Port Angeles.

Haircuts free for vets
In thanks for their service, veterans may receive free haircuts from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 10 at Fringe Hair Studio, 902 E. First St., Port Angeles.
All who have served in the armed forces are invited to come get free haircuts. If a cut is not needed, feel free to stop by have a cup of coffee courtesy of Bada Bean Bada Bloom and shake hands with fellow veterans.
