Veterans honored at city’s wreath ceremony

City of Sequim and dignitaries held a wreath-laying ceremony to honor veterans on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Sequim Civic Center Community Plaza, as city offices were closed on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Mayor Brandon Janisse, U.S. Army Iraq war veteran, read a proclamation commemorating Veterans Day and Deputy Mayor Rachel Anderson recognized local veterans organizations.

Three officers — Mark Poole, Taran Johnson and Paul Dailidenas — placed a wreath at the flagpoles and 9/11 memorial.

Deputy Police Chief John Southard recognized the 11 city staffers who are veterans, including seven officers such as Poole, ret. U.S. Army reserve military police.

Police Chief Mike Hill said flags are flown at full mass to honor veterans on Veterans Day.
