Two Clallam County drivers were injured Sept. 6 in a rear-end collision that involved a log truck on US Highway 101 northwest of Blyn, the State Patrol said.

The wreck occurred at about 9:28 a.m. on the two-lane stretch of highway between Blyn and Sequim Bay State Park, the State Patrol said.

Misty R. Guthrie of Port Angeles was traveling eastbound in a Ford Explorer when she collided with a Nissan Pathfinder driven by Diane M. Stephens of Sequim, which had been stopped to turn left onto Schoolhouse Point Lane, according to a State Patrol collision memo.

The impact caused the Pathfinder to strike a Kenworth log truck driven by Marcus D. Ellis of Port Angeles in the westbound lane, troopers said.

Guthrie, 34, and Stephens, 66, were each taken to Olympic Medical Center, where they were treated and discharged, according to the hospital.

Ellis, 21, was not injured, the State Patrol said.

Stephens and Ellis were wearing seat belts. The State Patrol said it was unknown whether Guthrie was wearing a restraint.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected as being factors in the wreck, according to the collision memo.

The SUVs were completely destroyed and the semi truck had reportable damage.

The Pathfinder that Stephens was driving came to a rest on the centerline fully blocking the eastbound lane and partially blocking the westbound lane, troopers said.

Alternating traffic was in effect at 10:27 a.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.

The roadway was cleared at 11:13 a.m., Transportation officials said.
