Sequim resident August L. McGuffin died May 9, 2014, in Sequim at the age of 87. No services were planned.

He was born Dec. 4, 1926, and he served in the Army Air Force from 1945-1949. He earned degrees from the South Dakota School of Mines and Syracuse University. He worked for General Electric in Utica, N.Y., in airborne radar for 40 years. He was a member of the IEEE, Sequim Bay Yacht Club and Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Thomas and Barbara McGuffin of Bellevue; and Bruce and Annie McGuffin of Lexington, Mass.; daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Jim Cawley of Shaker Heights, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
