Lewis M. Mathes Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2014.
He was born on July 22, 1923 in Ness City, Kansas. He served in the Army in WWII, seeing action in Germany and France.
He came to the Seattle area in 1957 and worked for the Boeing Company until his retirement in 1984. He then moved to Sequim, where he has lived since.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary; their 3 children Sandra (James) Lewis of Bremerton, Washington, Stephen of Cosmopolis, and Sheryl (Steven) Hill of Mill Creek; sisters, Vicki Par of Issaquah and Mary Ellen (David) Storm of Everett; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Sr. and Mary O. Mathes; and siblings Dorothy Mae (Ed) Ginder, Mildred (Eugene) Reinert and Tom Mathes.
A memorial service was held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sequim View Cemetery.
