Gail Nelson
February 7, 1939 – November 7, 2023
Gail Patricia Muyllaert Nelson, 84, of Sequim, WA, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023.
Gail was born on February 7, 1939, to Marguerite and Henry Muyllaert in Seattle, WA. Gail graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1956, where she became very close with all her lovely classmates, a lifelong group of constant support and friendship.
From the age of sixteen, Gail was never without Harry D. Nelson, whom she married in 1957. Gail and Harry went on to have five super awesome children: Gretchen Reynolds (Rick), Christopher Nelson (Linda), Randy Nelson, Jennifer Nelson, and Amy Lundstrom (Jeff). Gail and Harry were proud of and loved their six grandchildren: Erik Nelson, Tyler Nelson, Thomas Nelson, Olivia Lundstrom Oyer (Brett), Ryan Nelson, and Matilda “Tilly” Lundstrom.
Gail was a working mother for a number of years, working at Sears before a long stint at Boeing. She was proud of her work on the Stealth Bomber Project, a modern-day “Rosie the Riveter.”
Longtime residents of West Seattle, Gail and Harry retired and moved to Sequim, WA in 1994. Gail spent her time gardening, and together with Harry, created Nelson’s Duckpond & Lavender Farm, a founding member of the Sequim Lavender Growers Association. A Master Gardener, Golden Trowel recipient, and protector of many blossoms and blooms, Gail especially loved her roses and blue poppies. She was an avid member of her book club, and the Sunland Golf Club Community.
Gail was predeceased by her parents and brother, Gary Muyllaert. Harry passed away in 2015, but we are certain they are dancing together once again.
Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim, WA 98382, on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 11:00 am. Reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association, organizations that Gail felt strongly about.
