JoAnn Smith
June 9, 1955- June 18, 2023
JoAnn Smith 68, of Sequim, WA passed away on June 18, 2023 after a short illness. She was born on June 9, 1955 in Gloversville, New York. JoAnn was a loving and caring woman who loved life, nature, and big-hearted people and she was there for you no matter the situation. She enjoyed conversations on all sorts of topics and when she became your friend she always made you feel like family. She was a very honest, open, and straightforward person. Her home was always open to her friends on those special holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. She was always ready to feed you and to find any excuse to play bocce ball.
She loved her walks, snow shoeing, fishing, and kayaking. JoAnn also wrote and published her own blog: “Life in Lucie’s Shoes” for many years.
She graduated from Gloversville High School, Fulton Montgomery Community College and received her Bachelor of Arts in English/Secondary Education from Russell Sage College. Before retirement, JoAnn worked as a Resource Special Education teacher at Centerville Junior High, in Fremont School District in California. JoAnn worshipped at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City.
JoAnn is survived by her partner of 33 years, Linda Agostini, brothers Eugene Smith Jr. (Joanne) William (Bill) Smith, sister Judy Hunt and her beloved nieces, Jodi, Rachel and Stephanie. She was predeceased by her mother Mary R Smith and father Eugene B Smith Sr. of Gloversville NY.
Services will be held June 30th at Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship 2PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Leukemia Society or a charity of your choice.
