Geraldine Quinn (Duncan) Angiuli

April 24, 1933 — June 14, 2023

Geraldine Quinn (Duncan) Angiuli died on June 14, 2023, due to complications from cancer. She was born in Sequim on April 24, 1933, to Wallace and Genevieve Duncan, and was the oldest of three girls; Sandra Duncan Fitzsimmons and Mary Frances Duncan Henry (deceased).

Money was tight while growing up and they often moved following employment opportunities. No matter where they lived, the extended family was always getting together for picnics, holidays, and parties on Hood Canal. Early on Geri always knew she would have six children – which she did.

She attended schools in Bremerton, Port Angeles and then graduated in 1951 from Sequim High. She met her husband, Jerry, at a high school dance in Port Angeles. They were married on Jan 6th , 1951, and shared over 72 wonderful years together.

Geri sewed many outfits for her daughters over the years, prom, homecoming dresses, even a wedding dress for her 5-year-old granddaughter. For several years, she did alterations for a local men’s store. While chaperoning one of the high school dances, she realized that she had worked on many of the young men’s suits.

Later, she decided to learn how to quilt, and was a charter member of the SunBonnet Sue Quilt Club that began in 1986. For over 30 years she enjoyed quilting and being part of such a creative community. One of her goals was to hand sew a quilt for each of her children and she was successful. Her home was filled with quilts, and there was never an issue regarding having too much fabric.

Geri played bridge for more than four decades with the same group of ladies. They started out meeting together for a Chinese Cooking Class. Also, she and her husband, Jerry enjoyed playing couples’ bridge.

Geri was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1951. She taught children’s catechism classes for several years as well as worked on the many church bazaars and rummage sales. One of her most fulfilling duties was bringing communion to people in nursing and assisted living homes. Throughout the years, her love and commitment to God continued to grow.

When her girls were young, Geri was involved in Brownies and Girl Scouts. For the boys, she attended all their football and basketball games spanning many years.

Starting in the early 80s until she retired in Jan of 1991, Geri was heavily involved with the local swimming pool. She was on the Pool Board for both the old and new facilities. She was part of the community team that created the Sequim Aquatic Recreational Center (SARC). This group started at the grass-roots level, visiting and reviewing other communities that had this type of facility. They spent many hours door belling, attending city meetings and working together with other community service clubs to get the details right. In the end, their research resulted in a beautiful building, a workable budget, and a strong maintenance plan to keep the facility in good shape for years.

In 1989 it operated with the lowest tax subsidy of similar facilities in Washington, and in 1990 it operated with no tax subsidy. Geri was very proud of the work they had done to make it a self-supporting facility.

Geri’s husband Jerry died on April 22nd, 2023. She is survived by daughters Michele Drovdahl (Dan), Teresa Anderson, (Ian and wife Cary Ann, children; Evangeline, Hailey, Carter and Ryker), Sarah and fiancé Rory, and Denise LaPlant (Tom); James and wife Jazmine and daughter Sienna; Catherine and Caroline; sons JD (Laurie) John, Duncan and Taylor; David (Lora) Jacob, Michael and Sean; and Jerry “Tony” (Briand) Mikelle and Marcus.

Geri encouraged her husband to take risks. Whether it was buying the tire business, buying a piece of land to build their dream home on or having a large family, she knew, together they would be a success. Faith, family, and friends were the most important things in her life, and to a lesser degree the Mariners and the Huskies.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on July 28 th at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sequim. A reception will follow in the church banquet hall at noon.

Larry Wayne Aillaud, better known as “Lid”, passed away on June 21, 2023 surrounded by family after a courageous fight with Alzheimer’s.

Larry was born an only child to Walter and Eula Aillaud on November 6, 1949 in Borger, Texas. After moving to San Diego, he discovered his love of basketball, skimming on the beach and his young bride Lorrie Woolpert. They married in 1971 and welcomed their two daughters, Rebecca and Kerry in 1972 and 1973.

His desire to provide for his family took him to Wyoming to work in the soda ash mines, back to San Diego and finally to Port Angeles in 1976 where he would come to call home. He took great pride in his work as a laborer/operator and often pointed out the many projects he was involved in. His employers included Del Guzzi, Grant Simpson, Primo Construction, Lakeside and Cedars Golf Course. He and Lorrie also owned and operated a tavern appropriately named Lids Place in Port Angeles. He retired in 2011.

When not at work, Larry was playing , coaching and refereeing ball … basketball, softball, and finally hitting a golf ball. He played softball with the same group of guys he still calls friends today. In 1982, he traveled with his basketball team to Australia. He also had a love of biking and on his 40th birthday, rode his bike to Hurricane Ridge and back. It was his bike that gave him the most joy as his Alzheimer’s progressed. In his later years, he discovered golf and could be found most days at Peninsula Golf Course (it’s where he got his Hole-n-One!), then at Cedars Golf Course and always looked forward to playing Alta Lake Golf Course with the Kettel family.

In 2009 Larry rekindled an old friendship with Pam (Kettel) Priest and eventually married in 2016, shortly after his diagnosis. They resided in Sequim and spent time enjoying family, a little traveling and a lot of golf. She became his primary caregiver and along with family and friends, did her best to provide love and support.

Larry leaves behind his wife Pam, daughters Rebecca Stanton (Shawn), Kerry Rueck (Scott), Grandkids Taylor Balkan, Sydney (Balkan) Myers, Cole Rueck, Kate Rueck and Macey Rueck, Quinn Stanton, Sahara (Stanton) Batchelor, Abbi Priest, Saylor Priest, Stepchildren Cara (Priest) Haughey, Zach Priest and aunt Margaret Robinson. He was preceded in death by his Mom in 1985 and Dad in 2020.

Larry had a superpower…to make everyone around him happy. Singing cards and dancing stuffed animals were his trademark. He would say he was lucky enough to have great daughters and even greater grandkids. He loved being “Papa Lid”. He never met a stranger or a dog he didn’t pet. He was rock solid and will be remembered most for his strong, warm hugs.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Dr Hobbs, Highland Court and Assured Hospice for their care and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 16th from 1:00-4:00 in The Cedars Golf Course Legends Room, Sequim, WA and all family and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, it is requested a donation be made to Sequim Wheelers, PO Box 276, Carlsborg, WA 98324.

Marcylyn Ann Kleinberg passed away peacefully on Thursday June 22, 2023, at her home in Gig Harbor, Washington in the loving care of her family.

The daughter of Charles and Bernadine Brookover, she was born on August 9, 1941, in Zanesville, Ohio. One of three children, she grew up with an identical twin as well as a younger sister. She graduated from Wintersville High School in 1959 and then from the Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She fell in love with her husband, then a pharmacy resident, at The Ohio State University. They were married soon after, in 1972.

Marcylyn loved spending time with family and friends, near and far. Over the years, the ways she stayed in touch changed with the times. She wrote letters, mailed cassette tapes, telephoned on Sundays, called on the mobile, and conferenced on FaceTime. She was a generous host, opening her home to many. She also loved traveling adventures whether it involved a hotel room with a stunning view or a simple spare bedroom down the hall. Wherever she was, she was likely to find ways to work in some of her favorite things: quilting, garage sales, and craft fairs.

Marcylyn is survived by her husband of 50 years, Michael Kleinberg; sisters Marcia Headley and Kay Shew (Dick); children, Krista Kleinberg Sidhu (Johannes) and Charles Kleinberg (Lauren); and grandchildren, Sawyer, Cora, and Carter. She is also survived by many extended family members who loved her dearly as Aunt Marcylyn.

She will long be remembered by all those who knew and loved her. A celebration of life was held Friday, June 30, 2023. In lieu of flowers or donations, please carry Marcylyn’s spirit of generosity forward by practicing acts of kindness whenever possible.
