Russell Sonnier

February 1, 1962 – May 8, 2022

May 8th, 2022 a really good man named Russell (Russ) (Rusty) Sonnier left this earth.

He was born February 1, 1962 and graduated from Sequim High School in 1980.

He worked many different jobs but loved being an EMT at Olympic Ambulance for 17 years. He helped people escape from car accidents, wiped away tears during a crisis and comforted some while dying. He may have helped some of you throughout those years. He was a big guy with a big heart who sided with the underdogs. That’s who he was under all that ribbing and sometimes, those not so appropriate sarcastic remarks people knew him for. If he gave you a “bad time”, he liked you. He really was there with good intentions for so many.

Russ’s health began declining about 10 years ago. He fought and bounced back from many medical complications he shouldn’t have. We dubbed him as having nine lives. Something that kept him going for so long was his love for his children Jeremey and Jenna Sonnier. His love for them was beyond measure. He would do anything he could to show them his love.

In the end his heart was tired and just wouldn’t work and took him from us all.

He is survived by his children Jeremey Sonnier, Jenna Sonnier and their mother Dorothy Sonnier. He is also survived by his brother Steve Sonnier and sister and brother-in-law Norma and Chris Boushey. Also, nephew Chris Burris and niece Kimberly Burris who both did so much for him.

He also left behind two of his favorite people, Kathy Jones and Walter Ritchie. They were long time valued friends who helped Russ navigate through life and kept his spirits up clear to the end. He respected and loved them both.

No services per his request. Think of a memory and toast him with a drink, knowing he’d smile.

When it’s the end of my day &

the sun sets down on me the last time…

Please don’t sit in gloomy black and mourn. Remember me in colors and light

with the mischievous grin I was born.

Written in memory of my brother by Norma Boushey
