Richard Louis Greenway

October 6, 1976 – September 9, 2024

Beloved Olympic Peninsula resident Richard Louis Greenway passed away September 9, 2024, at his home in Port Angeles. He was 47.

A Memorial Open House will be held October 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at The James Center for the Performing Arts in Sequim.

Richard was born October 6, 1976, in Aberdeen, Washington, the oldest son of Richard and Cecile (Legault) Greenway, Jr. From an early age, Richard had a deep love of learning. He often took things apart to see how they worked, a practice he continued until his final days.

Richard’s family was central to his life, which he supported in all their endeavors. He enjoyed attending his son Quince’s rowing regattas and school concerts, playing PlayStation with Edwin, and teaching them both how to make pie crust.

Richard was an accomplished French horn musician. He was a member of the USC Marching Band; was a devoted member of the Sequim City Band for over 15 years. He performed with his son, Quince, in several concerts, including the Sequim City Band’s 2024 Fourth of July Concert.

In his spare time, Richard volunteered for a number of special interest groups including The Seattle Robotics Society for over 15 years and photographed his son Quince’s rowing regattas.

Richard worked at Nikola Engineering for 20 years. He started out surface-mount soldering boards working his way up to the design engineer for car audio amplifiers. He was well-known for his work in the industry, which necessitated his travel to Las Vegas, California, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.

Richard’s legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Amanda Chan; sons Quince and Edwin Chanway; his mother, Cecile and siblings Alicia, Chris, Travis, and Tristan; and three cats.

He will be remembered for a unique sense of humor; a wealth of random knowledge; deep love of learning and was generous with his time. Richard can best be summed up by his youngest son, Edwin who tells everyone “Daddy is the most amazing”. To learn more about Richard’s legacy, please visit https://www.fenchurch.org.
