Richard Barrett

December 20, 1939 - March 3, 2025

On March 3, 2025, Richard Barrett passed away peacefully in Sequim, Washington at Dungeness Courte Memory Care.

Dick was born to Gene and Carmen Barrett in Missoula, Montana in 1939.

He lived in Palmer, Alaska most of his adult life, enjoying fishing and hunting. He worked for many years as a laboratory manager for the State of Alaska’s Department of Environmental Conservation. Dick volunteered with the Palmer Fire Department for 20 years, where he was Assistant Chief.

Dick is survived by his former wife, Janice, and their five daughters, Carmen Cancio, Jamie Adler (Clint), Denise Barrett, Susan Herman (Neal), and Richelle Plummer, as well as 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dick is also survived by his wife Marcia, whom he married in 1994. The two lived in Alaska and Pagosa Springs, Colorado before moving to Sequim in the Pacific Northwest in 2013. Dick is survived by Marcia’s children: Heather Newland (Paul), Heidi Hill, Peter Hill (Norys Morlet), and Nikolas Hill (James Walton), along with seven loving grandchildren to whom he was fondly known as “Bumpa”.

Dick is also survived by his sister, Sheila Rogers, and twin brother Bob Barrett (Sandy).

There will be a future memorial service and interment in Wisdom, Montana. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Palmer (Alaska) Firefighters Association or to the Dementia Society of America.
