Going on record about school levy, bond
The Sequim Schools Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) that is composed of members that went to Sequim Schools or who have an interest in the schools and their history. There is a Board of Directors, membership dues and a newsletter that is published quarterly.
January 4, 2025, Sequim School Superintendent Regan Nickels gave a presentation to the Board outlining the reasons/needs/research behind and projected tax rates concerning the upcoming Renewal of Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy and the Bond to replace and upgrade deteriorating schools and improve safety. The SSAA Board strongly recommends all citizens in the Sequim School District take the time to research and learn about these two Special Election issues.
Tuesday, February 11 is election day to vote to pass these critical items. There are opportunities to learn the facts through several community information sessions at the school and by Zoom.
The kids of Sequim School District deserve to have safe, clean, modern buildings to learn in. We are talking about physical safety because now there are too many points of entry, health safety concerns from all all the asbestos that needs to be removed, and modern computer access that can’t happen because of outdated wiring and many other issues.
The SSAA Board wants to go on record as supporting a YES vote for both the Bond and the EP&O Levy and encourages all Sequim voters to support them.
