The 2016 PA Summer Classic is a 4-H sponsored youth animal show that takes place each June at the Clallam County Fairgrounds, providing 4-H participants an opportunity to practice presenting their animals in front of a judge before the Clallam County Fair in August.
In June, six local Clallam County 4-H members showcased animals belonging to Dungeness Valley Creamery, a locally owned certified raw milk dairy near Sequim, as the Summer Classic.
From left, judge Sarah McCarthey works with 4-H members Lexi Rosario, Carley Rife, Faith McFall, Emilee Reid, Bailey Anderson and Libby Swanberg. The Dungeness Valley Creamery supports local 4-H participants by allowing youth to select an animal to work with as their 4-H project throughout the year.
Clallam’s 4-H members visit the creamery to work with their animals and are able to take them off-site from the dairy to various dairy shows, allowing members to learn about how to raise, manage and show a dairy cow. Members plan to attend the Clallam County Fair and hopefully the Washington State Fair in Puyallup in September.
