A smashing good time

Fire, ice and smoke: The perfect ingredients.

Daredevil fans got a taste of each and a lot more at the fourth Auto Daredevil Thrill Show at the Port Angeles Speedway July 11, with nearly two-dozen stunts featuring predominantly local drivers.

For Bob Hanna, aka Dusty Russell, this was the fourth such stunt show. Hanna says he plans to bring the show back next year, “I had to do a lot of yelling because the guys didn’t know where to go, but the stunts themselves were just awesome,” Hanna says. “It was a lot more controlled than in previous years.”

Despite having a nearly all-new crew, these auto daredevils pulled off stunts like the Domino Crash and T-Bone Crash that previous crews didn’t.

“A good group of guys,” Hanna says of his stunt drivers. “They’re saying, ‘Let’s do it again. Let’s take it on the road.’”
