For the visiting Redhawks, it was a road trip to forget.

Sequim’s offense pounded Port Townsend pitchers for 16 hits while SHS hurlers Daniel Harker and Gavin Velarde tossed five innings of no-hit baseball in an 18-0 win on April 16.

Sequim’s Leighton Pace had three hits and a team-high four RBIs, cleanup hitter James Grubb was 3-for-4 with a triple and Velarde had three RBIs from the leadoff spot to pace the Sequim offense.

Velarde struck out two and allowed just one base runner in his two innings.

Sequim bats were busy two days prior, punishing North Mason pitchers for 13 hits in a 10-4 win in Belfair on April 14.

Evan Hurn went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Velarde had a double and triple, Tanner Rhodefer had two hits and two RBIs, and Harker had a two-run home run to left-center field in a four-run sixth inning to pace the Sequim offense.

Dusty Bates added a pair of hits and scored twice.

Rhodefer picked up the win on the mound, striking out six and giving up five hits and three walks over his six innings. Nigel Christian, coming off injuries that have limited his mound time, worked a scoreless seventh inning.

On April 17, Sequim dropped a 6-3, non-league decision at Vashon Island.

Bates had three of Sequim’s six hits, driving in a run and scoring another to go with a stolen base. Austin Hilliard had a double.

Christian took the loss on the mound in relief of Grubb, the SHS starter. Grubb struck out four and gave up just one unearned run over three innings.

Christian gave up four runs over two innings, but two of those were unearned.

The Wolves were scheduled to play at North Kitsap on April 20 and at Bremerton on April 21 — results were not available at press time.

Sequim hosts North Kitsap on April 23 and plays a non-league game at Rochester on April 24.
