Sequim’s bowling crew ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-0 home win over Bremerton on Jan. 11 that was shortened because of inclement weather and travel considerations.
Nikoline Updike led a balanced effort for the Wolves (4-9) with a 294-pin series — two back-to-back 147-pin games — as Sequim edged the Knights 661-652 in game one and 627-587 in game two.
The teams didn’t bowl Baker-format games.
Kimberly Heintz had Sequim’s second-highest series score with 266 pins (145-121) while teammate Morgan Updike posted the Wolves’ top individual game with a 149-pin effort in game one.
Trojans take league match-up
Olympic edged the Wolves by just five pins in the first game and went on to dominate the second in a 6-1 league win in Silverdale on Jan. 9. Sequim got a 160-pin first game from Updike but lost, 590-585. The Trojans came back to win game two, 653-561, despite another strong game from Updike (156). Kayser had a 219-pin series for the Wolves, who earned a split in the Baker-format games.
A Jan. 4 home match against Olympic was postponed and no rematch date has been scheduled, SHS coach Randy Perry said.
Looking ahead
Sequim was slated to cap the regular season with a match against Port Angeles on Jan. 15; results were not available at press time. The Olympic League tournament is set for Jan. 18 in Silverdale, with top teams and individuals moving on to the district tourney on Tacoma on Jan. 27.
The state bowling finals is scheduled for Feb. 2, also in Tacoma.
