Boys & Girls Club’s golf tournament set for May 8

Golfers will be hitting the greens to send local Boys & Girls Clubs some green in early May.

Sponsored by 7 Cedars Casino, the 24th-annual Sequim Boys & Girls Club Golf Tournament is a four-person scramble set for Friday, May 8, at The Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road.

Check in starts at 11 a.m. and tee times start at 1 p.m. Awards and other festivities begin at 5:30 p.m.

Entry fees are $100 per person and includes green fees, cart, practice range, a commemorative hat, complimentary lunch and a player goodie bag.

Prizes are awarded to the first-place finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions, as well as 19th place.

A hole-in-one prize on hole No. 4 gives golfers a chance to win $15,000 to split with the Sequim and Port Angeles Boys & Girls clubs and, at hole No. 8, a chance to drive off in a new Ford Mustang or Ford Escape.

Other hole-in-one prizes include a set of Diablo golf clubs at hole No. 17 and an LCD flat screen television at hole No. 11.

The Cedars is a 6,610-yard, par 72 course.

Irrigation Festival royalty will be on hand to visit with competitors.

Funds raised go to fund activities at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, who serve about 1,000 youths and young adults at facilities in Sequim and Port Angeles.
