Sequim’s Wolves trounced visiting Olympic 8-0 on Monday night — SHS’s senior night — to stay in a three-way tie with North Kitsap and Kingston for the Olympic League title.

The victory sets up a showdown with North Kitsap in Poulsbo on Wednesday. The Vikings (13-2, 13-2) shut out Port Townsend 7-0 on Monday.

Sequim, North Kitsap and Kingston have identical 13-2 league marks heading into Wednesdays final games.

Kingston hosts Port Townsend (5-10).

The top four teams in the league advance to a seeding tournament, with higher seeds hosting games on May 12 and May 14.

In any outcome, Sequim advances to play at the West Central District tourney on May 17, with time, opponent and location to be determined based on the seeding tournament.

Triumph against Trojans

The Wolves weren’t going to let up on Olympic, even if the visiting Trojans were winless on the season. Sequim scored three times in the first half en route to an 8-0 rout on Monday in Sequim.

Seven different players had goals for the Wolves (13-2 in Olympic League and overall), including Ron Welches and Brandon Payne in the first half, and Adrian Espinoza, Sylvester Morales, Bailey Collins, Nic Baird and Saul Nava in the second half.

“The kids were super excited for Senior Night,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said.

Morales, Collins and Nava, all seniors, scored their first goals of the season.

The victory sets up a showdown with North Kitsap in Poulsbo on Wednesday.

“It’s on their field and we beat them the first time so they’ll be up for it — should be a good battle.”

Beating the Bulldogs

Sequim earned its 12th win of the season with a 5-0 whitewashing of North Mason on May 1, getting goals from five sources: Tyler Ebert in the first half and Brandon Payne, Cameron Chase, August LaRue and Patrick McCrorie in the second.

Eli Berg, Will Bittner, Adrian Espinoza and Nic Baird had assists.
