Sequim’s boys soccer squad earned a split in its final regular season games last week, capping the season with a 4-10 mark.
On May 2 Sequim snapped a two-game losing streak with a 1-0 win at Bremerton.
“It was one of our better games all around,” SHS coach Juan Carlos Cisneros said. “It was important for us to demonstrate an accurate depiction of who we are.”
Parker Knight found the net for Sequim, assisted by James Mason.
Nolan Valenzuela picked up the shutout in goal for the Wolves.
On May 4, Sequim and Kingston played a tight-knit contest before the Buccaneers earned the penalty kick shootout after scoreless extra time to win 2-1.
Sequim’s goal came from Josh Alcaraz.
Cisneros said the Wolves, with a roster made up mainly of sophomores and juniors this spring, could not convert their scoring opportunities in the shootout.
“A quick reflection based on our record and results of our matches says we competed and gave ourselves a chance to get a positive result,” Cisneros said of the season.
“[I’m] confident this group will compete for a top four finish [in the Olympic League] next season.”
