This pack of Wolves has a few months to kill, a well-earned break after climbing back atop the Olympic League.

Four players from the league champion Sequim squad — including two singles players and a doubles duo — are headed to the West Central District tournament in May after posting top-five finishes at the league tournament in Poulsbo last week.

Donovan Lee took third place and Issaiah Dewan was fifth in singles while Brandon Payne and Matthew Richards took fourth in doubles play, earning berths at district when the tennis season resumes in May, aligning with the girls’ prep season.

Lee, a senior, went 3-1 at the league tourney, besting Nick Fritschler and Jeremy Choe of Port Angeles in consecutive matches to earn a spot in the semifinals, before falling to eventual league champ Jerry Landram of Klahowya. Lee rebounded with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Tyler Shuey of Kingston for third place.

Dewan, a junior, won his first match before dropping a quarterfinal match to eventual league runner-up Drew Fagan of Klahowya. Dewan beat Port Angeles’ Alex Brown for the fifth and final district singles berth.

Lee was 11-0 in the regular season, while Dewan was 10-0 in the regular season.

In doubles action, Payne and Richards won their opening two matches before falling in the semis, then dropped a three-set match to Kingston’s Kyle Hamel and Jordan Nick (3-6, 6-1, 6-1) for fourth.

The Sequim duo was 4-1 in the regular season.

Teammate doubles partners Eli Berg and Saul Nava placed sixth, one spot shy of a district berth.
